20 May 07/Mahi Mayhem
Had the pleasure of fishing with Rob on Reel Escape, a Viking 43 that ate up some big chop on Sunday. Crew was Capt Rob, Jared, Joe, Robby, Dave, Rick, Lanie and myself.
Fished out of Hatteras heading to 30-40 fathoms finding 73-74 degree blue water in the gulf stream. One line out and wham, it gets whacked by a nice mahi. Put the spread out and spent the day cranking and rigging. Everytime we found the weeds, we found mahi. Found some floating buoys and bailed mahi for a while on light spinning tackle. It’s always fun and interesting fishing with a new crew to learn a few new tricks. Rob is a great Capt keeping the crew on the fish most of the day. Thanks for a great day Rob.
Final count:
28 Mahi
3 small Blackfin tuna
1 shark (forgot the species)
Fresh mahi for dinner, Lanie’s favorite fish to catch and eat so she is a happy camper.
Here is a short video from the day.

Lanie took a ton of pics, here are a few.
