Wish-a-Fish

Saturday, 13 Sep 08

Lanie and I had the pleasure of participating the Wish-A-Fish event for our 4th year in a row . We picked a wonderful family at the Portsmouth City Park:

Father: Greg
Mother: Rebecca
Son: Austin
Son: Ethan

Wish a Fish Family

We started off at the Newport News Middle Ground artificial reef area. Caught only small sea bass and a bunch of snags from the structure down there so we didn’t stay long.

First Catch!

moved over to the MMBT and caught a variety of fish there from croaker, bluefish, spot, BSB, and toad fish. Ethan had the magic touch.

But Austin would not let his little brother out do him.

Then they  finish off by both pulling in a nice croaker each.

And here is our family getting their awards and rods/reels from Al B.

The whole event was run first class by Al B and many other volunteers. Lanie and I truly enjoyed the day. It made my day when Mom told us that little Austin wanted to grow to be just like Capt Mike. The parents told us that Austin and Ethan really came out of their shells today (first time fishing) and probably had the best time of their life. They are both bugging dad to go fishing again as soon as possible. I can’t tell you the satisfaction we get from helping these kids. We will be back next year for sure.
